The legs are back in EP236 !! I should put fish net stockings on her some time.
I had a really good weekend. I took Monday off to make it a long weekend. The weather was great. We had our annual Block Party on Saturday. Lots of people and kids. We had a band and a piano player that played between sets. So we had non stop music. For the kids, there was a bouncy castle and the fire department, swat team and canine units put on demonstrations. All those men in uniform!! We didn't have a block party last year because the road was torn up all summer for construction, so we had two years worth of partying to catch up on. It was a good time had by all.
EP235 was a fun episode. Drawing the Men's department was particularly fun. I love the "stratch and dent" sale. And the Outing Annoucer rattling off the departments on the floor followed by "watch your step" was borrowed from the Bugs Bunny cartoons.
Late, late, late…
I'm late blogging this week. It's been busy at work and the bloggity thing wasn't working. Anyways, EP234 marks the return of the Outing Announcer. I've updated the Cast page to include this character in case you don't remember him. Also, Sept 12th was my brother's birthday (I have three… brothers, that is). A late Happy Birthday to him.
Good-bye Mr. Dressup...
Yes, Sept 6th marked the last time Mr. Dressup will appear on the CBC.
For those who aren't familiar, Ernie Coombs was the star of a daytime childrens show called Mr. Dressup. The show ran for years. After his retirement and death shortly after, the show continued in re-runs. Well that has now ended. I remember the show as a kid, it was very low key. The strongest words he ever used were "oh, ga-roo". He could do a whole show with just paper, sissors, and crayons. There was a little boy, Casey, and his dog, Finnegan, who were puppets. Finnegan never said anything, he just whispered into Casey's ear whenever he wanted to say something. And of course there was the famous "Tickle Trunk". This is where Mr Dressup kept all his costumes; hence his name. Mr Dressup went on tour the year the puppetier annnounced her retirement. This would be the last time to see him, Casey and Finnigan all together. When he came to Ottawa, I went to see his show. It was interesting to buy a ticket to a childrens show for one adult. His show was very entertaining, and the kids loved him. Interestingly, he sold very little merchandise at the show because he felt that wasn't the point of the show. He was an entertainer from a different era.
Goodbye Mr. Dressup, we'll miss you.
