We're back to the regular schedule!! Mom continues to improve and is starting to use a cane instead of a walker. Not much new here. Work is going along as crazy as usual. Looks like poor Phil can't resist his magazine... as usual.
I made it home. I was a day late because my flight was over-booked, so I got an extra day in Saskatoon. My Mom is doing great and using a walker. She'll soon start using crutches and then graduate to a cane. By summer, she should be running around like nothing happened. Next week, we'll start back on our regular weekly Tuesday schedule. The fun begins again.
Hi Everyone. More good news. My Mom was released from the hospital on Wednesday morning. She's happy to be back in her own place. She's still doing very well and continuing with her exercises. For myself, I'm glad not to have to be at the hospital. I find hospitals bring back memories with a clarity and bluntness that is unwelcome. I have trouble with the role reversal too. But these are life's lessons. At any rate, we made it through the difficult part and things are on the mend. It looks like I'll be back home as planned. Thanks to everyone for their messages of support. I appreciate it. I'll be sure I pass them on to my Mom.
I'm happy to say that my Mother's surgery went well on Friday. There were no unexpected surprises. She has already been doing a little walking and has been experiencing very little pain. If fact the nurses were surprised at how little pain control she needed. Her energy has come back too and she is looking forward to getting out of the hospital. At this rate, she may be released from the hospital on Tuesday or Wednesday.
Updates are temporarily suspended.
My mother is going into the hospital for hip-replacement surgery this week, so I am flying to Saskatoon to help with her recovery. Regular updates are planned to resume on Tuesday, March 28th. If there are any changes in the plan, I will post them here in the blog.
Thanks for your patience. See you on March 28th.
